James Hardie has been a student at Cross Krav Maga since December 2012. His previous martial arts experience in Shotokan Karate was as a student in Portsmouth for 3 years from 1990-93.
For his day job and career James has spent over 30 years in various aviation roles including as a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot and working for a large aerospace company in business development and marketing roles managing people around the world and travelling extensively.
James has a wide range of experiences that have helped with maintaining and developing a positive mindset. These have included: Military and commercial flying; Escape and evasion training; adventurous training; Three Peaks Adventure Racing challenge; Chara Challenge with the Royal Marines; Powerboat Level 2; ski touring and downhill skiing.
After a long and inactive recovery from a fairly serious ski accident, which dislocated his shoulder and required surgery, he was looking for a new challenge and found Cross Krav Maga.
”Cross Krav Maga has been an important part of my personal development journey offering a new set of challenges to mind, body and spirit. It is more than just acquiring a repertoire of physical skills, which is nice to do outside of work. It has also helped in acquiring a different viewpoint on situations at work and when travelling, because it is very much a people first training environment where we help each other to grow.”
